Our Scarecrow Bug

It's been a while. I guess we've been busy gardening... and doing various other things. We made our bug to scare away the flea beetles, and by golly, it worked! They seem to be gone. It's possible that the rain had something to do with it too. Apparently Gridley's bug scarecrow is the talk of the community garden. Many an admirer down there!

The gardens are looking nice and full after all of the rain we've had. The Kale is growing well. We have many different kinds of greens and herbs for salad. The carrots have popped up and our beans are starting to climb along with some of the cucumbers. It's pretty exciting around here. We even have a few strawberries ripening. I think we've picked five so far. Not enough to freeze or make jam, so we went to Broadturn farm ot pick some more. Gridley and Maggie were great helpers...for a while. We made it home with about 5 quarts. Enough for now.
